FLUID SYSTEMS GOLF LEAGUE
Welcome to the 2020 Covid-19 shortened season. We will begin on the 1st of June with a scramble. Due to their businesses,Dave Maddox and Brad Benigni have elected to step aside for this year as President and Secretary. Mark Steiner will be acting President and Ray Ressler will take over secretarial duties for this year. We will play until the end of August, which comprises of 14 weeks. 10 weeks will be devoted to match play, 2 scramble weeks and a position round and a 4 player playoff round in week 14. Those not in the playoff will have the Red Tee Scramble in week 14.
Here are the formats for this season (obviously, subject to changes by the League Management Mark and Ray as they see fit) L O L.
2020 Fluid Systems Golf League Format
24 players for 14 weeks of golf
Weekly Format
Each week 24 players will be paired with and opponent
Compare your handicap against opposing opponent handicap to determine the number of strokes given per nine holes. We will use last year’s handicaps for the 1st two weeks of golf
You then compare our total against the opponents total minus any strokes. Low score per hole gets 2 points, tie gets 1 point. The lowest total score ant the end of the round gets 2 points. There are a total of 20 points per round.
Each player records their own score each week
At the end of the year the top four players with the most total points will be eligible for a one week playoff to determine the league champ.
Giving strokes
If you have a lower handicap than your opponent, you give one stroke per hole beginning with the hardest hole on each nine.
No more than 16 strokes can be given to an opponent for 9 holes. (no more than 2 strokes for par 4 and 5 and no more than 1 stroke on a par 3)
Hazards and Out of Bounds
If your ball goes in a water hazard you may place your ball on either side of the water with 1 penalty stroke.
If your ball goes in any hazard, you may place the ball anywhere in the fairway no closer to the hole with a 1 penalty stroke.
Double Par Rule
The maximum number of strokes that can be taken on any hole is double par. (10 for a par 5, 8 for par 4 and 6 for par 3.
Subs
It is up to you to get a sub if you are going to miss. Subs par $15 to golf and those funds help cover the cost of our year end outing. Points earned by your sub will go towards your total.
Keeping Score
When we have skins with handicap, you need to keep your actual score and your handicap score on each hole. (if your handicap is 9…then you get one stroke on each hole. If it is and 11…then you get one stroke on each hole and 2 strokes on the 2 hardest holes.)
Gimmicks
Each week we collect $5 per player for closest to the pin and skins. Scramble nights will be $10 per man.
Closest To The Pin ($2 per week mandatory)
Each week we will award winnings to the player that is closest to the pin on each of the par threes.
Players must mar their ball or is does not count towards the closest too.
In the event that no one hits the green, then the money carries over to the next par 3 played, whether it is that night or the following week.
Skins ($3 per week mandatory)
Each week we will award winnings to the players that earn a skin.
In the event there are no skins that night then the money carries over to the following week.
We will play 2 straight weeks of skins with handicap and 2 straight weeks of skins with handicap and continue that throughout the year.
The One Club Rule
Players may move their ball anywhere within 1 club length of where his ball lies on any shot, yet no closer to the holes. Your expandable retriever does not count as a club. You can’t move your ball out of a hazard (like water or out of bounds)
Gimme Putts
It is at the discretion of your opponent to give you a putt.
Keep in mind this is a fun league and it will help speed up play not having everyone tap in a one- or two-foot putt. In addition, if a player is putting for a triple bogey of more you might help ease the pain.
Different Formats
The first week will be a scramble and the sixth week will be a format to be determined. Stay tuned.
Senior Citizens Rule
Players over 70 years of age may play from the gold tees it the desire to do so.
Special Games:
- Ray will be running the 50/50 each week and the cost is $5.00. 1/2 the money will be put into the league fund to be used at the end of the season Scramble.
- Ray will also collect $10.00 per player for the Year End Closest to the Pin prize that will be paid out at the end of the year scramble. This is due no later than the 2nd Week of the season.
